The 8 Best Local Rank Trackers for Google Maps in 2026
The best local rank tracker is the one that checks your Google Maps position from a grid of points across your service area, at a price that fits how often you need to look. We compared eight of them the same way: one keyword, a 7×7 grid, scanned every week, priced on each tool's own pricing page in October 2026. The cheapest came out at $10 a month and the most expensive at $129, for exactly the same job.
Price isn't the whole story, though. Some of these tools only scan the map. Others also track your organic rankings, what ChatGPT and Google's AI say about you, or your listings across directories. Below you'll find a quick pick, the full cost comparison, a card for each of the best local rank tracking tools with real screenshots, and how to choose.

The Quick Pick: Which Tracker Fits Your Business
If you only read one table, read this one. Prices are the cheapest monthly plan for one location.
| Tool | Best for | Starts at | Max grid | AI answers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glocavo | Map rank, organic rank and AI answers in one app | $0 free plan, paid from $21.99 | 13×13 | 6 engines, every paid plan |
| Local Falcon | Heavy grid users, the largest grids | $24.99 | 21×21 | AI scans, paid in credits |
| Whitespark Grids | The lowest price for grid scans alone | $10 | 15×15 | Not in the grid product |
| BrightLocal | An all-in-one local SEO suite | $41 per location | 15×15 | Included |
| Localo | A weekly to-do list for your profile | $39 | 7×7 | Not listed |
| Moz Local | Listings first, grid as a bonus | $20 per location | Not published | Not included |
| Semrush Local | Teams already in Semrush | $30 per location | 15×15 | Separate plan, from $199 |
| SE Ranking | A full SEO suite with local grids | $129 | 15×15 | 100 prompts a day in Core |
If you want the lowest monthly bill
For grid scans and nothing else, Whitespark's Local Ranking Grids at $10 a month and Local Falcon's pay-as-you-go credits are the cheapest ways to run a weekly scan. Neither includes organic rank tracking or AI answer tracking in that price, so you'd add other tools if you need them.
If you want the map, your organic rankings and AI answers in one place
Glocavo puts grid scans, an organic rank tracker and AI answer tracking in one app, and you can stay on its free plan for as long as you like before paying anything. BrightLocal also bundles AI tracking, alongside citation and review tools, at a higher price per location.
If you run many locations or clients
Watch the per-location pricing. BrightLocal, Moz Local and Semrush Local charge for every address, so ten locations cost roughly ten times as much. Glocavo, Local Falcon and Whitespark charge for credits instead, which is usually cheaper once you pass a handful of locations.
What the Same Grid Scan Costs in Each Tool
Every tool on this list prices differently: credits, pins, keyword limits, locations, grid caps. That makes their pricing pages almost impossible to compare side by side, so we priced one identical job in all eight.
The job we priced, and why
One keyword, scanned on a 7×7 grid (49 points), once a week. That works out to about 4.33 scans and 212 grid points a month. It's a realistic starting setup for one business tracking its main service in one city.
For each tool we took the cheapest monthly plan, for one location, that can actually run that job, using the prices on its own pricing page on 15 October 2026. Whitespark's own estimator gave the same answer for its tool, 213 credits on the $10 plan, which is a useful check on the method.
The results, cheapest to most expensive

The spread is wide: Whitespark costs $10 a month, Local Falcon $10.62 in pay-as-you-go credits, Moz Local $20, Glocavo $21.99, Semrush Local $30, Localo $39, BrightLocal $41 and SE Ranking $129. Scale the job up to five keywords on a 9×9 grid and the order shifts. Whitespark stays at $10, Glocavo stays at $21.99, Local Falcon moves to its $24.99 plan, and BrightLocal and Localo drop out because they don't offer a 9×9 grid.
What a monthly price leaves out
The cheapest tool for one job isn't always the cheapest for yours. Three things change the math:
- Credit expiry. Local Falcon's monthly credits and Whitespark's credits expire each billing period. Glocavo's plan credits reset each month, but its top-up credits never expire.
- Per-location pricing. BrightLocal, Moz Local and Semrush Local multiply the price by every address you add.
- What comes with the grid. Some prices include organic tracking, AI answer tracking, listings or review tools. Others are grid scans only.

1. Glocavo
Glocavo is an all-in-one local visibility tracker: grid scans on Google Maps, an organic rank tracker, and AI Visibility, which checks what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews say about your business. Its free plan has no time limit.
- Google Maps grid scans up to 9×9, 5,000 scan credits a month
- Recurring scans, daily or weekly, with rank history
- AI Analysis of every scan, on its own credit pool
- Analytics: organic rank tracking plus your Search Console data
- AI Visibility: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, AI Mode, AI Overviews
- Shareable report links, unlimited businesses
Basic ($39.99) adds 13×13 grids, team members and 3 workspaces. Studio ($79.99) adds API and MCP access, white-label report links and branded reports.
- Map rank, organic rank and AI answers in one app
- AI answer tracking is part of every paid plan, not an add-on
- AI reports use their own credits, so they never eat scan budget
- Grids stop at 13×13 (Local Falcon goes to 21×21)
- Not the cheapest option for grid scans alone
- Google Business Profile management (AI review replies) is in beta, coming to all plans soon
Verdict: Pick it if you want one place for your map rankings, your organic rankings and what AI answers say about you, without stacking add-ons.
2. Local Falcon
Local Falcon is the tool many people picture when they hear "geo-grid". It offers the largest grids on this list and a pay-as-you-go option that suits occasional checks.
- Grids up to 21×21, plus Apple Maps tracking
- Pay-as-you-go credits that never expire
- The best-known heatmaps in the category
- Falcon AI reports cost 25 scan credits each
- Monthly plan credits expire at the end of the month
Verdict: Pick it if grid scanning is your main job and you cover large areas.
3. Whitespark Local Ranking Grids
Whitespark sells its grid tracker as a separate product from its older Local Rank Tracker. For grid scans alone, it was the cheapest tool in our test.
- $10 covers 2,000 grid points a month
- Daily, weekly or monthly scan schedules
- Sits next to Whitespark's citation tools if you need them
- A separate product from Whitespark's Local Rank Tracker
- Unused credits expire each billing period
Verdict: Pick it if you only need grid scans and want the smallest bill.
4. BrightLocal
BrightLocal is a full local SEO platform: citations, reviews, audits, reports, and a Local Search Grid on every plan. You pay per location for all of it.
- Citations, reviews, audits and reports in one place
- Local Search Grid included on every plan
- Local AI Visibility tracker included from Track
- Priced per location, so each extra address adds cost
- Up to 5 grid keywords on Track, no 9×9 or 13×13 size
Verdict: Pick it if you'll use the citation and review tools too, not just the grid.
5. Localo
Localo is built for business owners who want to be told what to do on their Google Business Profile each week. Rank tracking comes with it, on a smaller grid.
- Guided tasks for your Google Business Profile
- AI-written profile posts you can schedule
- Position map refreshes itself every 7 days
- Grids stop at 7×7
- Map updates once a week, no daily option
Verdict: Pick it if you want to be told what to do on your profile each week, with tracking alongside.
6. Moz Local
Moz Local is a listings tool first. Its Local Grid, called GeoRank until Moz renamed it, shows map pack rankings from the cheapest plan up.
- Pushes your listing to 90+ directories
- Local Grid (formerly GeoRank) included from Lite
- Review monitoring in every plan
- Grid size and scan frequency aren't published
- Priced per location
Verdict: Pick it if your real problem is listings, and the grid is a bonus.
7. Semrush Map Rank Tracker
Semrush sells its Map Rank Tracker inside Semrush Local, priced per location. AI answer tracking is part of a separate SEO + AI Search plan.
- Simple math: 1 credit per pin, per keyword
- GBP AI Agent posts and replies to reviews
- One login with the rest of Semrush
- 375 credits on Base is about 7 scans of a 7×7 grid
- AI answer tracking needs a separate SEO + AI Search plan
Verdict: Pick it if your team already lives in Semrush and tracks a few keywords per location.
8. SE Ranking
SE Ranking is a full SEO suite with local grid tracking inside it. Its Core plan now includes some AI prompt tracking too.
- Organic rank tracking, audits and backlinks too
- 1,500 point-keyword limits across 3 locations
- Listing management included
- $129 is a lot for the grid alone
- The full AI Search toolkit is an $89 a month add-on
Verdict: Pick it if you need a whole SEO toolkit and local grids are one part of it.
How to Choose Local Rank Tracking Software
Start from what you need to see, not from the feature lists. These four questions decide most of it.
Grid size and point spacing
Your rank changes as the searcher moves, because Google uses distance as one of the three main factors in local results. A bigger grid shows more of that pattern, but it costs more credits on every scan.

A 5×5 or 7×7 grid covers a single neighborhood or a small town. A service business that drives across a county needs 9×9 or larger. If you're not sure, here's how to size a grid for your service area.
Credits, expiry and per-location pricing
Credit-based tools charge per grid point, per keyword, per scan. Work out your monthly points first (grid points × keywords × scans), then compare plans. Check whether unused credits roll over or expire, and whether the price multiplies for each location.
Tracking AI answers next to the map
More customers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI for a recommendation before they open Maps. Glocavo, BrightLocal and SE Ranking include some AI answer tracking in their plans, Local Falcon charges credits for it, and Semrush sells it as a separate plan. If AI answers matter to you, check which engines a tool covers and how many questions it asks each month.
What agencies need: workspaces, white label, share links
An agency needs one place per client, reports a client can open without a login, and ideally its own branding on them. Look for workspaces, team seats, share links and white-label options, and check which plan they start on. In Glocavo, for example, team members start on Basic and white-label reports start on Studio.
Best Local Rank Tracker: Common Questions
Is there a free local rank tracker?
Yes. Glocavo has a free plan with no time limit: 100 scan credits at signup, grids up to 5×5, and you can top up credits instead of upgrading. Local Falcon gives 100 credits and Whitespark 200 trial credits at signup. For one-off checks, there are also free ways to check your Google Maps ranking.
What's the most accurate local rank tracker?
There's no public, independent test that settles it, and we didn't run one. Every tool here reads live Google results from each grid point, so differences mostly come from timing, point placement and personalization. Run the same scan twice before you trust a big change.
How much does local rank tracking cost?
For one keyword on a 7×7 grid each week, from $10 to $129 a month in our comparison. Most single-location businesses land between $10 and $40. Costs grow with keywords, grid size, scan frequency and, for some tools, the number of locations.
Do I need a grid, or is one-point tracking enough?
One point tells you where you rank from one spot, usually your own address. A grid shows how your rank drops off across the area you serve, which is what decides whether customers a few miles away find you. For a local business, a grid is worth it.
Which local rank trackers track ChatGPT and AI Overviews?
In this list: Glocavo (six engines, every paid plan), BrightLocal (every plan), SE Ranking (100 prompts a day in Core, more with an add-on), Local Falcon (paid in credits) and Semrush (separate SEO + AI Search plan, from $199 a month).
How often should I check local rankings?
Weekly suits most businesses. Rankings move from day to day, so a weekly scan shows the trend without overreacting to noise. Scan daily only while you're testing a change, such as a new category or a batch of reviews.
Pick the Tracker That Fits the Job
The best local rank tracker for you depends on what you need to see, not on the longest feature list:
- Grid scans only, lowest bill: Whitespark Grids or Local Falcon pay-as-you-go.
- Map, organic rankings and AI answers in one app: Glocavo, starting on its free plan.
- Listings, citations and reviews too: BrightLocal or Moz Local.
- Already paying for an SEO suite: Semrush Local or SE Ranking.
If you'd rather see your own map before choosing anything, Glocavo's free plan runs real grid scans with no card and no time limit.
Prices change often. We checked all of them on 15 October 2026, and you should check again before you buy.
